URGENT: FAFSA Processing Delays
We want to make you aware of an urgent issue that will impact FAFSA processing for the 2026-27 cycle, and we need your help communicating this to students immediately.
What’s Happening:
- Beginning April 26, many colleges (including Nebraska public institutions using Oracle systems) will not be able to receive or process new or updated FAFSA records.
- This disruption is expected to last until at least mid-May.
- Students can still submit the FAFSA during this time, but colleges will not receive the data, which may delay financial aid offers and next steps.
Why It Matters:
This is a critical time for seniors as they finalize college plans. Delays in FAFSA processing could impact:
- Financial aid award timelines.
- Verification processes.
- Students’ ability to make informed enrollment decisions.
How You Can Help:
Please urge all students who have not yet completed their FAFSA to do so immediately—before April 26.
Colleges are also communicating directly with students, but we anticipate many will turn to you with questions. Your proactive outreach can make a significant difference.
Thank you for your time and everything you do to support Nebraska students!
