COVID-19 Parent Letter 8.30.2020

COVID-19 Parent Letter 8.30.2020

All students and staff are required to wear face masks unless Opt-Out forms are signed and submitted in PowerSchool by parents.

Dear Families,

Staff and students have found their routines and started to settle in after three weeks of school.  We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and help getting students ready for school and making sure they stay healthy.

There has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in the Southeast Health District over the past couple of weeks with an anticipated spike over the next few weeks that could send our district into the “Orange category.”   We have had a positive case in our school and have been in contact with the Southeast Health District.  They have advised us to closely monitor the situation with no other restrictions.  We will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure our students, staff, and buildings safety.  This will mean making some minor adjustments from our “Yellow category,” to our “Orange category.”

At this time, we will be implementing the following procedures beginning Monday, August 31, 2020.

  • Masks will be required outside of classrooms and when appropriate inside the classrooms.

  • We will implement a “Homeroom Model” for grades 7-12 from 8:00-3:37pm.

  • Elementary will remain in their “Homeroom Model”.

  • Please bring a water bottle, backpack, and headphones (for Zooms).

  • We will continue to check temperatures twice a day.

  • School drop-off and pick-up will remain the same.

We will reevaluate the situation after 1-2 weeks of implementation.

If you have questions or concerns, you may contact me at 402-866-4761 or email aallen@sterlingpublicschools.com.

Sincerely,

Adrian Allen

Superintendent
