New 2014-15 Golden Sower Books

K-3 & 4-6

2014-2015 GOLDEN SOWERS ARE HERE!!!

The new 2014-2015 Golden Sower Award Nominees were added to the Sterling School  library this year.  The Golden Sower Award is a Nebraska children's choice literary award sponsored by the Nebraska Library Association.  The "Sower", as we know, is the bronze statue standing on top of the Nebraska state capitol, was chosen as the symbol of this award.  The program intends to "sow" seeds which stimulate children's thinking, introduce different types of literature, encourage independent reading, increase library information skills and foster an appreciation for excellence in writing and illustrating.

Two children's choice awards are presented annually:
Primary Book category: titles appropriate for grades kindergarten through 3
Intermediate Book category: titles appropriate for grades 4 through 6

The elementary library classes will be reading the Golden Sower Nominee Award books this year and then participate in the voting next April 2015 to see which single book becomes the winner!!
