The twenty-sixth annual Class "D" All-State Band was held in Kearney on the UNK campus on Saturday, March 24th. Five students from Sterling were selected by audition to be a part of the Symphonic Band, Jenna Nieveen, Katie Daehling, Billy Richardson, Michael Lucas, Matt Erickson and two were selected to play in the Wind Ensemble, Allison Porter and Andrew Daehling.
The Class "D" All-State Band is comprised of three different bands, the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band. There were over 130 kids representing 40 different schools in attendance. Only students that are enrolled in Class "D" Schools in Nebraska are eligible to participate in these ensembles.
Students rehearsed all day with their guest clinician for the symphonic band, Mr. Stan Johnson and wind ensemble, Mrs. Linda Donohue.
The final concert was performed to an audience Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. Students put on a great performance that evening; they represented themselves and their community very well.
