Public Statement 10.10.2019

This phone message was sent out today.

Sterling Parents, This is Dottie Heusman, Superintendent of SPS.  I wanted to share a statement that was provided to the media and me today from Rick Smith the Johnson County Attorney.  This is in regards to the reports yesterday about Sterling Public Schools.

“After receiving reports from the public, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office investigated allegations that a student enrolled at Sterling Public Schools had made threatening statements.  The Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the school administration, investigated the matter.  Last night, they uncovered information the school did not have previously, and the Sheriff’s Office placed a fifteen-year-old into custody pending a hearing.  Law enforcement and the school do not expect a disturbance at the school.  An earlier report that the school was not cooperating in the investigation was incorrect”.

If parents have any additional questions, please contact me.  Thank you for your support.
