The 3rd quarter scoring got started with McCartney blasting one in from 1 yard out. A Wenzl to Benson pass added the 2-pt. conversion. The Jets took the lead after their next score with Michael Lucas taking one in from 2 yards out. The PAT pass fell incomplete. The Irish took the lead right back on Scheitel's 3rd score of the night on a 1 yard run. Scheitel also ran in the 2-pt. conversion. Scheitel went through the air for the next Irish score when he found Clay Finck open from 17 yards out. Haralabidis added the PAT. The score was Irish 43 Jets 30 heading into the 4th quarter.
Harring opened the 4th quarter scoring with his 3rd touchdown of the night this time from 50 yards out. Haralabidis converted the PAT. The Jets closed the gap with Wenzl calling his own number and rumbling 65 yards for a score. The Wenzl to Benson hookup again added the 2-pt. conversion. The Jets drew even closer on their next series with Wenzl again finding paydirt this time from 5 yards out. Wenzl hooked up with Archie Keebler for the 2-pt. conversion. But that was as close as the Jets would get as the Irish defense turned away one last attempt from the Jets late in the game. The final score was FCSH 50, Sterling 46.
Wenzl led the Jet rushing game with 136 yards on 13 carries. Lucas rushed for 33 yards on 11 carries, Trey Trauernicht rushed for 19 yards on 5 carries, McCartney rushed for 17 yards on 6 carries, and Benson rushed for -13 yards on 1 carry.

Jet defenders helping out were Keebler 8 tackles, 6 assists, Benson 5 tackles, 8 assists, 1 quarterback sack, and 1 fumble recovery, Trauernicht 5 tackles, 6 assists, McCartney 4 tackles, 3 assists, and 2 quarterback sacks, Dalton Clark 2 tackles, 4 assists, Lucas 2 tackles, 2 assists, Matt Erickson 1 tackle, 5 assists, Richard Frerichs-Shea 1 tackle, and Rhet Dirks 1 fumble recovery.
" We battled and battled and just couldn't quite finish off the comeback. We had all the momentum in the 4th quarter, but we just didn't make the plays down the stretch to win the game. We had some breakdowns on defense which led to them having some long runs, but we made some adjustments that helped us slow them down in the 4th quarter. "
" Our offense had their best game of the season. We totaled over 300 yards in offense, and against a good team that is quite an accomplishment. We still had a few too many turnovers, but with the inexperience we have on the field, some of those are too be expected. Our kids have nothing to be ashamed of, that was a quality team we went toe to toe with, we just came up a little short in the end. We have to continue getting better each and every week and put this one behind us quickly as we take on a tough Parkview Christian team this upcoming Friday."
Sterling heads to Lincoln this coming Friday, October 14th to take on the Parkview Christian Patriots. Note that kickoff is set for 4:00 pm.
