The fifth grade class has been studying scientific inquiry for the past 2 weeks. This week they have been putting their scientific minds to work on experiments and testing their hypothesis. They have found that sometimes experiments work, sometimes they don’t. They tested their hypothesis by trying their experiments. They were pretty disappointed when their experiments didn’t turn out, but they were in awe when they did turn out. One picture we are sharing with you is of Taylor Cockerill explaining her experiment to the class. She had to list the 5 steps of the scientific method as she was testing her hypothesis. The experiment was making ice cream using Dixie cups and craft sticks. The students volunteered to stir the ice cream with the sticks for approximately 30 minutes. Their favorite part of this experiment was eating the results. It was delicious!
Other experiments included; bubbling wizards brew by Mason and Seth, foaming fountain by Katie and Analissa, taste test by Austin W. and Dylan, Milk into Stone by Micah and Matthew, Hover Craft by Nyck and Chris, and Replica of a bottomless pit by Sydney P. and Tyler just to name a few.
We have also been studying animals of our earth and oceans. In the elementary hallway, we have animals displayed with information the students have researched. They did an excellent job and have found several facts they wanted to share. Stop in and take a look.
