Jets Split Over the weekend, move to 6-4 on the year
The Sterling Boys basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend, losing last Friday night at home to HTRS 53-44.
“I thought we played pretty well overall for the weekend” said head coach Jimmy Motz. “We played two very good teams and I felt it prepared us for what we will see this coming week.”. Sterling led HTRS 27-22 at the half but the Titans came out and scored the first eight points of the second half. With the scored knotted at 38 apiece, Marshall Freeman banked in a running three as time expired in the third quarter to make the score 41-38. The Jets couldn’t counter the big play, only scoring six points in the final quarter. Zach Lempka led the Jets with 15 points, while Jake Saathoff added 11. That shot was huge” Motz said. “It sparked them and it took the wind out of our sail. We had opportunities to score, we just missed some shots. Plus, when you turn the ball over 16 times in a half, those are missed chances to score. But we had a chance at the end, we couldn’t convert.”
