FCSH defeated the Sterling Lady Jets 55 – 38. Both teams were very aggressive defensively in the first quarter. Made baskets were tough to come by. Both teams relied on the defense throughout the second quarter. FCSH took a 20-14 lead into half-time. The third quarter was the telling quarter. FCSH jumped out quickly with some easy transition baskets off of Sterling turnovers. FCSH defense made Sterling’s offense seem stagnate at times. The final quarter was played evenly, but the 15 point deficit after the third quarter was too much for the Lady Jets to overcome.
Coach Cockerill said, “I was proud of the young ladies effort, but I know the team has some things to work on. It is a tough to go back to back nights against teams of Freemans and Fall City Sacred Hearts caliber, but you know right away where your team stands. I will say we did compete well each night.” Kala Weber paced the Lady Jets with 23 points. Katelyn Wheeler and Tori Oberding scored 16 and 14 points respectively to lead FCSH. Sterling plays Friday, December 7 at home against Diller-Odell.
