We came out and played well in the first match of the tournament. One always worries about going into a tournament like this where I wasn’t able to get a scouting report on any of the teams. So we had to make adjustments as we went along in the matches. I felt we did a good job of making adjustments the whole day. Also we found out late we would not be able to use our starting MH Stephanie Heusman. So Jamie Erickson took her spot and played well for us the whole day. We’re extremely fortunate to have a sub like Jamie. She can play several positions so this makes her a very valuable player for us.

This turned out to be our most challenging game. We needed to win this to win our pool and go on to the championship game. In the first game we came out strong and got a lead. I really think we might have caught them a little by surprise. We only had 7 players suited up due to our JV’s playing a tournament in Adams as well. So after getting off to a good start we had to fight at the end to win game one. In the second game they had the lead most of the game by 1 to 3 points. But in the end our girls kept their composure yet stayed aggressive and finished strong to win the match and go on to the championship game.

There’s not much to say with this game. Most of the girls on the Clarinda team hadn't played a lot of VB so this was not much of a game. One has to give Clarinda girls credit that they were out there doing the best they could.

I thought this was a game where we came out and took care of business right from the start. Besides a few hitting errors and a few poor passes on serve receive we really played a good game. Although when one looks back at the tournament we probably played better against Riverside IA because we were forced to play better because they were a very good team. This game was another example of how the girls knew the importance and kept their focus throughout. It was also a tough game because we had just came off a very easy game so it’s hard for them to shift gears and step it up a notch. Overall I’m very please on how the girls played and proud of the way they handled themselves on and off the court. Champions of the Sidney IA Tournament is quite an accomplishment for probably the smallest school at the tournament and only 7 girls suiting up.
