Freeman found the endzone midway through the 3rd quarter when Busboom found an open Blake Ebbers from 9 yards out. The PAT run failed. The score was tied at 6 heading into the 4th quarter.
Nieveen got the lead back for the Jets when he raced 73 yards for his 2nd touchdown of the night. The PAT pass fell incomplete. Freeman answered right back with Jerod Nieveen capping off a long drive with a 3 yard scoring run. Nieveen also ran in the PAT which proved to be the deciding points of the night giving Freeman the 14-12 victory.

" We had trouble controlling the line of scrimmage all night long. We wanted to establish our ground game, but outside of 1 long run, we couldn't really get anything going on the ground. We knew coming in that their offense was very potent and our defense did a nice job of holding them to 14 points. The bottom line was it came down to PAT's and we missed both of ours which cost us the game. Our kids are resilient and we will regroup and get ready for our next contest."

Sterling's next game is Sept. 21st vs. Falls City Sacred Heart in Sterling. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
